Keeping Your Dog in Top Shape for Training
If you train your dog for any type of competition, there are many things to keep in mind so that your dog stays in top shape. One of the first thing to remember is that your dog needs proper training when competing. Simply expecting your dog to be able to have the stamina or the understanding will never work, and there is a huge time commitment involved in dog training. However, since you can’t discuss with your dog how they are feeling during training, you will need to be aware of how your dog is acting, as well as pay close attention to how you begin your dog training.
While the type of dog training will largely regulate how you approach your dog and how much time you spend, the most important thing in dog training is the time spent. This can be true even if you are training your dog for simple behavior, or if you are training your dog to compete in shows or pulls.
There are a couple of different methods for dog training, and these include either positive or negative stimuli. What this means is that you can either reward your dog as they learn through training, or you can provide punishment for not listening or learning through the training (this would include use of shock collars or other negative stimuli). Typically, punishment for bad behavior is only used as a training method for behavior, such as keeping your dog from running out into the street, etc. This type of training is typically ongoing, and needs to be used on a daily basis. For positive stimulus training, this could involve giving your pet a treat every time they learn a new facet of dog training. Performance dogs are often trained in this way, and even teaching your dog to do simple tricks can become easier if you use this method of dog training. This type of dog training is typically intermittent, which means you would work with your dog for training purposes for a set length of time only a few times a week, as opposed to every day all day.
Another important aspect of dog training is dog nutrition. You will want to make sure that your dog is receiving enough nutrition from food and water to supply him with the energy, stamina, and brain power required to learn what you are teaching him. Much like a person will have difficulty learning new things without proper nutrition, your dog’s nutrition level is key when it comes to training. This is particularly true for any training that involves a massive amount of physical effort, such as pulling competitions. You need to be sure that you are feeding your dog the proper dog food that will supply enough dog nutrition to keep him healthy during physical activity. If you are competing in dog shows, dog nutrition is equally as important. In order to have a shiny coat and be in the best health, your dog will not only need good genes, but also proper dog nutrition. Using dog food that offers vitamins and minerals to keep your dog in top shape is one way to go, and another is to offer healthy treats during training. There are many types of natural and healthy dog treats that offer dog nutrition while showing your dog he is doing a good job during training.
